Shape of Gesture by Alexandra Harley 21 May – 14th June,  The Muse Gallery, 269 Portobello Road

This collection of bronze sculptures grows from my process of working in wax for the foundry. The transformation from soft wax to solid bronze reflects my interest in capturing movement and energy in permanent form.

Although the works are not kinetic, they explore motion through the relationship between multiple elements. Forms lean, balance, and interact, creating a sense of tension and suspended animation — as if a fleeting moment has been held in time.

Bronze allows for strength and openness. The spaces within and between the forms are as important as the solid material, activating the surrounding air and inviting the viewer to move around the work.

Rather than solid, monolithic structures, these sculptures are built from shifting parts in dialogue — exploring rhythm, balance, and the fragile edge between stability and collapse.
