Pauline Rafal - The Legends of Robert Schumann: Kinderszenen Book Art Installation, (Variation II)

£350.00

Originally commissioned by pianist Annie Yim for a concert at Burgh House and Hampstead Museum, the installation includes 12 hand-made books containing some of Robert and Clara Schumann’s letters. They were written from a variety of temporary homes in which Robert and Clara lived while travelling separately during their years of engagement, and trace both their love story and their shared passion for music. ‘Kinderszenen’ was one of Clara’s favourite compositions and she provided feedback about the pieces in her letters to Robert.
