The time harassed character from Steadman’s illustrated Alice in Wonderland (1973). Steadman reimagined Wonderland as a confusing place filled with commuters, a John Lennonesque caterpillar and Cheshire Cat who fades in and out like the bad signal on an old TV set. The iconic White Rabbit with his bowler hat is as harassed as a bank clerk who has missed his train to work. The first stirrings of the Gonzo artist Ralph was to become can be seen here.
